The Part-Time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations came into force in July 2000. The Regulations enable part-time workers to gain parity with their full-time counterparts.
The Regulations also provide that it is automatically unfair to dismiss a worker or subject them to any other detriment for asserting any rights under the Regulations in relation to their part-time status. No qualifying period is required for such “automatically” unfair dismissal claims.
